Welcome to Co Guide

"Co-Guide: a user centred guide to our collective sporting heritage in the East End of Glasgow: past, present and future" is currently being designed and developed by the Multimodal Research Group in collaboration with East End schools, The Caledonian Club and local community groups and focuses on the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
The main aims of the project are:

  • By making the invisible, visible: we will build a guide that enables people to view buildings not yet built and buildings that are no longer there through an application on a mobile device. By doing this we can provide people with a window to the past and future to things that are not physically accessible
  • Provide people with a greater awareness of their local community’s history through the examination of the spaces and places in the local community and what they have been used for in the past.
  • A more interactive and personalised history as participants and others will be able to add data to the website through its life time
  • A greater awareness of what the local community may be giving up if a building is brought down, but also an awareness of the positive benefits of what might replace it.

The proposed outcomes of the project are:

  • A website
  • An interactive educational DVD of the process above and the outcomes to be sent to other schools and community groups who may wish to undertake a similar process.
  • Mobile legacy guide application which will include: a tour of one of the existing venues, a view of a building not yet finished, a serious game that will include physical activities and historical data in order to bring the past, present and future together.
